In Japan, March 3^rd is called “Hinamatsuri” or dolls’ festival. On the day, we pray for young girls’ growth and happiness. Most families with girls display dolls called Hina-ningyo. Here is a movie which is about how to make craft Hina-ningyo with simple tools. Please enjoy making one with your children.

To start with, you need to get the materials ready. The following lists are what you need. Almost all of them are usually sold in a hundred-yen store in Japan. Here is the item names in English.

・toilet paper rolls(2)

・scissors

・origami with Japanese pattern(2)

・origami of various colors

(They are needed to make several parts of the doll’s body.)

・double-sided tape

・flat paper bowl

・ribbon

・hole puncher

・flower paper
