How to make “Toami”&“Kuzukago”,decorations for the Star Festival(七夕飾り・投網とくずかご)

It is said that there are as many as fifteen kinds in decorations of the Star Festival(Tanabata).

One of them is called “Toami” and another is “Kuzukago” in Japanese.

I want to introduce how to make “Toami” and “kuzukago” in the following movie.

As another article explains, it is said that Hikoboshi (Cow herder) and Orihime (Weaving Princess), are allowed to meet each other on the day of Tanabata(the Star festival).

“Toami” is decorated with two kinds of hopes. One is that we gather the power of happiness with the Toami.

Another hope is that we never get in trouble with foods. Toami is associated with the a casting net that fishermen use. That is the origin the second hope is based on.

“Kuzukago” is a wastebasket. We make it with a hope that we can take good care of the things around us.
